About Chris Fitz...
On the personal side....
THE GROWING FITZ-BEISSER'S: My life's joy, Tabea, Noah, Joana and i comprise the FITZBEISSER FAMILY, from Fitz (my side) and Steinbeisser (literally "Stone-biter"), a lovely and very strong-toothed clan living in Marietta, Pennsylvania, midway between York (my hometown if i had one) and Lancaster (yes, where the Amish come from). Here's a picture of us from Halloween. It'll be outdated in a few more months, so you'll just have to find me on Facebook....
THE REST OF THE FITZ FAMILY: Wonder-full, brilliant, penny-pinching, critical thinking, procrastinating, artistic, loving, fighting, hugging, teaching, prophesying people who made me who i am. A modest page with some fun pictures!!
PROFESSIONALLY, i work as a Development Manager for the Crispus Attucks Association of York, a large, historically African American community center begun in the segregated 1930s. I continue to invest free time in the liberating arts and in my continuing facilitation and training work.
I WUZ: living in Munich, Germany, learning the German language and fatherhood simultaneously, a life-threatening/enabling challenge that i survived! Before that i was in Washington, DC, working as the Iraq Speakers Bureau coordinator at the Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC) until that fateful day i met Tabea and joined the jubilee circus....
BETWEEN 1996 and 2001, I straddled domestic and internationally-focused nonprofit program work as the program director at Camp Eder, a camp and retreat center in Pennsylvania and at Colgate University Peace Studies program assistant in New York. I also conducted international development research in the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Zagreb in 1996.
FORMAL ED: In 2001, I completed my M.A. in Peace & Development Studies at the Universitat Jaume I, Castellon, Spain which included work at the European University Center for Peace Studies in Stadtschlaining, Austria. My undergrad was at Hampshire College. Rah!
JOURNEY OF FAITH: I am a practicing Friend/Quaker and also part of the Church of the Brethren, an historic Anabaptist peace church, often struggling with the "fundamentalist" church body while seeking to live out the radical callings of Jesus - "to set free the oppressed, bring good news to the poor and proclaim the year of the Lord" in our time.

OTHER PASSIONS: playing and singing folk musics and dancing Contact improvisation and Argentine tango.
